In socail studies we attempted to complete a prezi presintation on know your place around Canterbury.

from this research I learnt the names and arrival dates of the first four ships and the lyttleton settlement .

the most interesting thing I found on my research was that cressy quite alot later than the other three ships

i would have liked it if i had the time to finish all of the questions

A key moment for Ellie in tomorrow when the war began when she used the lawnmower as a pyrotechnic, it ia a important  moment for her as a character because it was here first time she has every killed some which results in  trauma. In chapter 7 ellie and two of her friends are hiding from the invaders.  In this moment she is scared that her and her friends are going to get caught. Ellie thinks quickly to protect her friends and escapes from the soldiers by using the lawnmower as a explosive by putting a rag in the gas-tank to create a trail and lighting it . this moment shows the reader that ellie is brave, smart, and capable of leadership. 

A quote that shows Ellie’s courage  is on page 90 “For the first time I saw their faces; then I struck the match”. This quote shows that Ellies action saved their lives in a life or death situation. This is a moment that stays with Ellie for a  long time

Chapter 17 questions  1- 4
1. Because ellie already feels guilty about all the other laws they have broken and does want to try keeping breaking laws to a minimum and they were not essential

2. A clean war is mean to be a war where they try to keep fighting and abuse to a minimum and have nice living conditions. no killing rape or concentration camps
2.5. they are intent on having a clean war so other country such as america won't get involved

3.the 3 soilders that got hit by the lawnmover bomb 2 of them died they think and two of the people they ran over also died
3.5. the shock was terrible and she quite giddy

4. because they don't have the man power for it and they also are using the people/prisoners/ they have for something and don't just have them sitting around doing nothing

5. the soliders were all organinsed when something moved or alerted them. and they were in formation

6. some clues that ellie is starting to think like a solider . in chapter 19 ellie started going over what she would do to elliminate one of the convoys like one person shooting the spot light out and then going full power and shooting the rest through  the wind screen

7. Ellie is nervous  because she thinks that Fi did not have the skills for the task

9.they think the trucks have no brakes and that other trucks to shiny and some of the trucks have no fuel, there was also lots of interference on the walkie talkies, when Ellie trys to coast the air brakes shut off and the steering wheel locks

AIM: to make a marshmallow shooter and work out what forces are acting on it

Equipment: Paper cup, Scissors, Balloon , Marshmallow,

Method :

1. cup of bottom of cup
2. cut of the neck of Balloon
3. stretch the open end of the balloon over the bottom of the cup
4. place marshmallow in cup
5. pull ballon back to fire.

Results:

cup broke but at end more accurate at end hit Mr heath with 3 rapid fire

Discussion: the forces acting on it 

in the cup the force acting on the marshmello were Friction and gravity and support keeping it in the cup

As soon as it leaves the cup  the forces acting were thrust and support over powering drag and gravity

as it moves toward the ground

gravity and drag were pulling it towards the ground

Conculsion:

it worked alright i would use a stronger cup next time  

Aim: To make a wind racer that goes the furthest out of the class.

Equipment:
Nylon fabric
Tape
Bamboo Stick x4
String
Popsicle sticks
scissors

Method:

1. Construct the mast by adding it onto the trolley thing
2. Make the sail using the plastic bag or the paper. Use The Popsicle sticks to strengthen it so it doesn't cave inwards. We have to shape it correctly so it is able to catch the wind to make it go for longer
3. Add sail to the mast.
4. Strengthen mast just to give it more support.
