Aim: to see what happens when you try to dilute
Equipment: a potassium permanganate crystal, six test tubes, tweezers, a plastic transfer pipette, a test tube rack , a 10 ml measuring cylinder
Method:
1. Place the six test tubes in to the test tube rack and number them from 1 to six
2. use the measuring cylinder to place 10 ml of water in test tube one and 5 ml of water in the other five test tubes
3. then using the tweezers put your one small potassium permanganate in test tube 1 and
4 shake it until the crystal is dissolved
4.5. rinse the pipette
5. then using the plastic transfer pipette transfer 5ml from test tube 1 in to test tube 2
6. then repeat then process 4.5 to 5 but use the 5ml from the test tube you just put it in and put it in the next one over
Result: test tube 1 was dark purple and as we transfered the 5ml from tube to tube the colour got more faint until test tube 6 it was quiet faint
dilution : the action of making a liquid weaker by mixing in something else, or a liquid that has been made weaker in this way:
Concentration is when a thing is in one spot
